About the Band

Folk duo and couple Monet & Christian began only a couple of years ago, but the pair have made a name for themselves on the Canadian and international music landscape – wowing audiences and Toronto and east coast-based musicians as pros in tight vocal harmonies and thoughtful, provocative lyrics.

Monet hails from Saint John, New Brunswick and Christian from Castleton, Ontario (near Cobourg) and they met in 2016 at the Randolph College for the Performing Arts in Toronto. After Randolph, they moved to London (UK) to get their master’s at the Guildford School of Acting – Monet holds an MFA in musical theatre, and Christian an MFA in acting. Following Guildford, they created ‘Every Young Adult Novel Ever: The Musical’ (August 17, 2020), which received rave reviews at the Fundy Fringe Festival, Toronto Fringe Festival and Brighton Fringe Festival, UK.

Monet & Christian started performing around London (UK) until they landed a job as a music duo on board cruise ships and in-between performances, they released their first single “Stuck” on November 18, 2022 (sound engineer Paul Hodge). Early in 2023, they moved back to Canada, and on April 25, while working a Caribbean cruise ship contract, they released their debut, self-produced EP titled ‘Monet & Christian.’

Currently, Monet & Christian continue to write copious amounts of original music and perform at Toronto clubs including The Dakota Tavern, The Horseshoe Tavern, Bar Cathedral and more, plus venues across Ontario and New Brunswick. They performed in June at the 2024 Living Roots Festival in Fredericton, and have just returned from their initial tour out west, which included a date at Vibestown Music Festival (near Edmonton) on August 24.
